Module 5: Add XY Data Points and Geocoding

Add XY Data Points and Geocoding

The first part of Week 5 had me working with my "frenemy" Microsoft Excel. I've long accepted that all data has to be logged somewhere and Excel is the way. Thankfully, we did not fight as we tend to do but this was a short encounter - our disagreements usually arise when we have to spend extended amounts of time together.

The XY Data Entry was very to the point - I know I'll have future roadblocks with more complicated formulas but I know how to navigate those battles.

On the Geocoding - I had a small issue with the "Table to Table" - I had way more options than listed in the lab (ArcPro 3.2.2) and none of them were CSV to Table - I had to use Excel to Table and ArcPro would only let me select the .xlsx file.  I had to go back and delete my first sheet in the workbook so ArcPro would pull the right information.

The first map I attempted to share to Web Maps had an unique ID issue
I ultimately ended up deleting this map due a design issue and uploaded a new one with no issues.

The Web Map has all the required parameters.

The Layout map below is a bit different from the Web Map because it includes the inset map showing where Manatee County is in Florida so it felt a bit redundant to leave the Florida Counties layer turned on. The Manatee County line also stands out better in this view. I left the default purple for the schools point so it stood out.
